Non 12 step rehabs stand alone offering their patients something else besides a formula that doe not always work. When something does not work all the time, why would you assume otherwise? Today, most drug alcohol treatment centers are single minded. They all seem to think that the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous works for everyone. They better think again. The truth is the 12 step model does work for some. It does not work for all. Not by a long shot. Some people just do not respond to the whole higher power deal.
