Dual Diagnosis Rehab Proves More Effecitve
Dual diagnosis is the drug rehab term for an individual who has a substance abuse problem and a psychiatric condition such as depression, anxiety, anger, bi-polar or ADD/ADHD. The reason this is so important is simple. Many people who are alcoholics and or drug addicts are using these substances to self soothe and self medicate themselves. Unless these underlying causes are properly identified and treated, the person will, in all probability, never achieve long term abstinence. This does raise the question of whether prescription medications should be used.
