Non 12 Step in Step with the Times
Non 12 step rehabs are becoming the best way to get the most out of drug treatment. Nothing lasts forever, not even the 12 step model of treatment based on the wonderful program known as Alcoholics Anonymous. For half a century, every drug alcohol treatment center in the universe based their whole recovery program on the 12 steps. The problem has become the disease of alcoholism and addiction has rolled on the 12 steps has stayed the same. The other concern is the 12 steps of AA are based on a belief system centered in a Higher Power they call God. And for many people, especially those who are alcohol and or drug dependent that sounds like a bad deal.
