Once upon a time it was extremely difficult to be medically detoxed off of opiates like oxycontin, hydrocodone and vicodin. You had to check yourself into an opiate detox facility and stay there for 5 to 7 days. Not to mention eat the lousy food they serve. Today, thanks to a wonder drug called Suboxone people can be safely detoxed off pain medication on an outpatient basis. Yes, the person still has to go to the doctor’s office several times a week for several weeks. And yes, it is not free. Here is a link to the national database of the doctors currently licensed to do outpatient opiate detox.
