Opiate Drug Abuse On The Rise

Opiate abuse is increasing very rapidly in the United States. Heroin, an opiate drug, is often the most used/abused drug. Excess opiate intake often causes the brain to stop producing a certain chemical which is necessary for proper functioning of the brain. This chemical gets replaced by the opiate drug and patients become opiate “dependent”. You can get opiate not only by many illegal drugs but also via many prescription drugs like Vicodin, Oxycontin, and Fentanyl. Until recently, such dependency or addiction was thought of as a no-cure problem. However, today there are drug centers that specialize in opiate drug detox.
