Substance Abuse Treatment, Non 12 Step Drug Rehab Programs
There are several types of substance abuse treatment programs. The biophysical program takes into account the physical and the emotional aspect of drug abuse. This is the most successful program in place today. The 12 step program is an industry standard which was invented by two alcoholics about 80 years ago. The dual diagnosis programs work on patients with mental illness and substance abuse problems. There are also non 12 step rehab programs that take an alternative approach to treating substance abuse. Drug replacement therapy works on replacing the dangerous drug that the patient is addicted to with a less harmful one and keeps repeating this process unless the addiction is gone.
